Emily Pollock (she/her) is a smart, creative, and practical advisor. She is recognized as a fierce advocate, focused on facilitating efficient and favorable resolutions, and was named one of the top 10 divorce attorneys in NYC by Forbes Advisor in 2024. Since 2008, Emily has practiced exclusively as a matrimonial and family law attorney. She has been named a “Rising Star” by New York Metro Super Lawyers and selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Family Law. Emily has presented extensively to both legal and non-legal audiences on matrimonial and family law issues and was named to the Lawline list of Top Women Faculty of 2019.
Emily’s experience as an appellate clerk and commercial litigator with an elite law firm provides a strong foundation for counseling her clients on high-level financial and legal issues. Emily began her legal career with a clerkship for the Honorable Paul H. Anderson of the Minnesota Supreme Court before joining the New York office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. She spent four years practicing in the areas of complex commercial and securities litigation. Prior to joining Donohoe Talbert in 2023, Emily was one of three partners in a Manhattan matrimonial and family law practice that was recognized as one of the Best Law Firms, Family Law Practice by U.S. News and World Report.
Emily earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Chicago, where she was awarded the Alumni Association Student Achievement Award. At The University of Minnesota Law School, Emily was a Law Review Articles Editor and was awarded the 2002 award for excellence in writing for her article, Those Crazy Kids: Providing the Insanity Defense in Juvenile Courts, Minn. L. Rev. 85, 2041-79. In between college and law school, Emily spent three years pursuing an acting career in Chicago, honing her waitressing and temping skills.
Emily’s less traditional path to the courtroom has uniquely positioned her to represent clients with a broad spectrum of life experiences. She is able to make a daunting and overwhelming process feel manageable with targeted legal insight, skilled advocacy, and compassion.
Emily has been a regular contributor to Forbes Leadership and Thrive Global, co-authoring forty articles for Forbes and eight for Thrive, has been a guest on podcasts hosted by Laura Wasser and Caroline Stanbury, appeared as a matrimonial law expert on Bold TV and Cheddar News, and has been quoted regularly in various media sources. Emily is also a member of the New York Family Law Section of the New York Bar Association, acted as a New York Women’s Bar Association delegate to the Women’s Bar Association of New York, and is a member of the Judiciary Committee of the New York Women’s Bar Association. She is also certified as a matrimonial and family law mediator.
Emily is a solo mom to her son with whom she lives on the Upper West Side and through whom she has gained an impressive depth of knowledge about the NBA.
