Cassie Volkheimer (she/her) brings the strong attention to detail and insight that are imperative in complex matrimonial custody and financial matters. She uses her skills to resolve disputes in a collaborative manner, but when settlement is not possible, she strategically advocates for her clients at trial and on appeal. Cassie’s interest in matrimonial law stems from her interest in working with individuals. She is a trusted and committed supporter of clients through what is often one of the most trying times in their lives.
Cassie has practiced matrimonial law exclusively since her graduation from law school, having joined the firm in 2013. Cassie has significant experience in all aspects of matrimonial law, including equitable distribution, spousal maintenance, custody and child support, as well as prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.
Cassie received her law degree, cum laude, from New York Law School where she was a member of the New York Law School Law Review and a John Marshall Harlan Scholar. While at law school, Cassie focused her studies primarily on family and matrimonial law. She was a member of the Diane Abbey Law Institute for Children and Families (then the Diane Abbey Law Center for Children and Families), where she contributed to a family law blog and co-authored a practice guide for analyzing the role of forensic evaluators in New York State.
Prior to joining Donohoe Talbert LLP, Cassie served as an extern in the Matrimonial Part of the New York State Supreme Court for the Honorable Laura E. Drager (Ret.). She also interned at the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
Originally from New Baltimore, New York, Cassie received her B.A. in Legal Studies with a minor in Writing, magna cum laude, from Ithaca College.
Cassie is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Family Law Section
Cassie lives in New York City with her long-term partner and dog Rio.
