Ariel Rothstein Clemmer
Ms. Clemmer received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2010, where she graduated cum laude and was a member of the Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review and the Harvard Defenders. She obtained her B.A. summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Richmond in 2005, after which she worked as an elementary school teacher with Teach For America.
Ms. Clemmer began her legal career as a criminal public defense attorney at The Bronx Defenders, where she represented indigent clients charged with a wide range of misdemeanor and felony crimes. As a public defense attorney, Ms. Clemmer gained extensive courtroom experience, litigating hundreds of cases through all stages of criminal proceedings from pre-arrest through trial. After The Bronx Defenders, Ms. Clemmer worked as an associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in the firm’s Securities Litigation group. There, she defended clients in connection with class action lawsuits and regulatory investigations, and gained experience handling high-profile complex financial matters. During her time at Weil, Ms. Clemmer also maintained an active pro bono practice litigating matrimonial, civil and criminal cases in New York State courts. In 2014, Legal Services New York City named Ms. Clemmer one of the “Top 30 Pro Bono Attorneys of 2014.”
As a result of her background, Ms. Clemmer excels in working one-on-one with clients and assisting them through the often emotional divorce process. Yet, her experience in securities litigation provides her with the financial background to navigate the complex financial landscape often present in our clients’ matrimonial matters.
Ms. Clemmer is a member of the Family Law Section of the New York State Bar Association and the New York City Bar Association. She is also a member of the Legal Services New York City Pro Bono Associate Advisory Board.
